Class 1

The reception children's phonics is really started to click! Most children are starting to blend and some segment their words. In year 1 the children are now learning different graphemes for phonemes.

Maths has been focussing on number factors, what numbers can we add together to make other numbers. Reception children have been adding and counting using objects around the classroom.

This week we have been learning about Remembrance Day. We have made poppies and learnt a poem for this Friday's special assembly.

On Wednesday afternoon, the children were encouraged to use their imaginations and given the theme of "Autumn" to produce anything they thought linked to Autumn; the outcomes were absolutely amazing. The children were so busy putting their ideas into action.

This week we have also introduced "drawing club," where we introduce the children to a book or film clip; afterwards they draw a character or a setting from the story and then annotate or write a sentence to describe their drawing.

In PSHCE, our topic is "Good to Be Me." We are gong to explore different feelings this half term. This week we thought about how we are special and how we all have talent and are good at things. We drew ourselves as superheroes telling everyone what we are particularly good at.
