Class 3

Music for life

Class 3 were lucky enough to have Music for Life team come in. The two musicians performed for the whole school before our workshop. We looked at music from around the world (China, Brazil and Africa). We learnt different pieces to perform using our bodies and percussion instruments. We had to work as a group to create the rhythm and melodies. At the end of the session, the whole school was invited back to watch out performance.

Sheriff Hutton Writing

Class 3 were invited to go to Sheriff Hutton Primary School to learn and write with the children there. We read the witches spell from Macbeth before generating ideas on different body and plant parts, trying to be really specific and technical. Then we worked to create rhyming couplets and patterns. Finally the children gathered their ideas together to create some wonderful poems. Back at Husthwaite we performed these poems to the class and some children even volunteered to perform them to parents at Friday's celebration assembly.

Flamingo Land

Class 3 had an amazing time at Flamingo Land yesterday.

Even though it was a bit chilly, we had an fantastic time on a guided tour of the zoo a workshop in the afternoon. The children asked really interesting questions, learnt lots of different facts - like the fact that hippos like to poo in the water they're in and to fling it about with their tail so the water smells like a hippo. The children showed off their superb knowledge and vocabulary of living things and their habitats. By the end they all had a different favourite animal.
