Apple Tree Nursery

Husthwaite CE Primary School and Apple Tree Nursery caters for children aged 3-11 years through the provision of a nursery class.  The nursery is run alongside our Foundation Stage class which also includes reception children.  Children can attend the Apple Tree Nursery from 3 years of age.

We are the only provider in the locality which offers nursery education in a state school, led by a qualified teacher who is also our Foundation Stage Manager.   All nursery staff hold level 3 or above qualifications relating to children’s education and development.

Nursery sessions are available from 9.00am-3.30pm Monday to Friday, term time only.  Our offer includes full and part day care from 3 hours to 30 hours per week.  Please enquire at the school office for full details of all sessions available.

If there are vacant places available we may be able to offer ‘Rising 3’ sessions as part of our paid provision.  This offer is for one or two sessions per week from the start of the term a child turns 3 years of age.  Please enquire at the school office for availability and full details.

Early Years Funding

Every child is entitled to 15 hours of funded childcare from the start of the term after their 3rd birthday.  This is known as the universal 15 hours entitlement and is available regardless of parents’ employment status.

From September 2017, eligible working parents may be able to access up to 30 hours of funded early year’s childcare per week.  This is known as the extended 30 hours entitlement. To access this extended entitlement, parents must make an application online and HMRC will check their eligibility.

The school has also registered with the government for Tax-Free Childcare, an online government service to help working parents with the cost of their childcare.  For every £8 a parent pays into their childcare account, the government pays in an extra £2.

Stay and Play Toddler Sessions

All pre-school children and their parents/carers/grandparents are welcome to come along and join in a fun soft play session alongside our nursery children.   This is also an ideal opportunity to meet up and chat with others in the local community and we thank volunteers from St Nicholas Church for helping and providing refreshments. The dates for the remainder of the academic year are:

Friday 21st April

Friday 12th May

Friday 16th June

Friday 14th July

Sessions are for an hour from 9-10am and it would be lovely to see some new faces.

Stay and play sessions provide both children and parents the opportunity to explore our foundation stage environment as an introduction to early years learning.  It is also an ideal opporutnity to meet other children and families.
