Apple Tree Nursery

Husthwaite CE Primary School caters for children aged 3-11 years through the provision of a nursery class.  The nursery is run alongside our Foundation Stage class which also includes reception children.

We are the only provider in the locality which offers nursery education in a state school, led by a qualified teacher who is also our Foundation Stage Manager.   All nursery staff hold level 3 or above qualifications relating to children’s education and development.

Children are welcome to attend our nursery from the term after they turn 3 years old which is in line with their entitlement to the universal early years funding (15 hours per week free childcare).  However, some working parents may also be able to register with HMRC to claim a further 15 hours child care per week through the extended hours provision.  Further details of the extended funded is available at:

We also accept ‘Rising 3’ children as part of our paid provision.  These children attend our nursery for one or two sessions per week from the start of the term in which they turn 3 years of age as a transition to becoming a nursery child.

Please take a look at our Foundation Stage Brochure and enquire at the school office for further details.

Nursery sessions are available from 8.45am-3.30pm Monday to Friday, term time only.

Please enquire at the school office for full details of all sessions available.  We offer full and part day care from 3 hours to 30 hours per week.

If you would like your child to be put on our waiting list for nursery, an application form can be downloaded here.   Completed application forms should be returned to the school office.

Stay and Play Toddler Sessions

We hold free weekly 'stay and play' toddler sessions every Friday morning between 9am and 10am for parents/carers and their toddlers to come and explore the foundation stage environment.  The sessions usually consist of a creative activity and play in the hall as well as freedom to roam the classroom and foundation stage outdoor area.

It is hoped in these sessions that children will become familiar with the nursery environment such as cloakroom, toilet facilities, resources and snack times as well as getting to know the staff and children which is especially beneficial should they attend our nursery in the future.
